Refugee Life Ministry
For the past four years, we at Grace have worked with World Relief Minnesota and other area churches to resettle numerous refugee families. These displaced families have joined our community from such places as Burma, Liberia, Iraq and Bhutan, escaping war-torn homelands, refugee camps, persecution, and religious as well as economic opposition.
What difference can one person make?
Volunteers play an important role, helping with short-term projects like: securing rental housing, furniture/clothing donations, orientation, and various "handyman" tasks. Volunteers may also help 2-6 hours per month with "daily life" activities such as: transportation to/from appointments or church, shopping, tutoring, English language assistance, helping fill out job applications, opening up bank accounts, securing utility service, appointments for public assistance, school, ESL classes, etc..
What's Happening Now?
In 2010 - 2011 we will be resettling our fourth refugee family. Join our team of voluteers to welcome our newest family, provide encouragement to our current refugee families, and show God's love in a practical way. Ongoing training and orientation is provided.
